Your first visit typically lasts 45–60 minutes, depending on the complexity of your condition. At Mitten Health & Performance, the initial assessment and clinical workup are crucial for getting to the right diagnosis—this ensures we can deliver the most effective treatment for you.

Your examination may include:

• Detailed health history

• Neurological assessment

• Functional evaluation

• Orthopedic testing

• Soft tissue evaluation

• Joint motion palpation

In some cases, X-rays may be recommended to further assess your condition. However, based on the latest clinical guidelines, X-rays are not taken routinely on the first visit. They are only suggested when medically necessary to rule out serious issues like fractures or structural abnormalities. If needed, we’ll explain why and help coordinate imaging at a local facility.

If the assessment is clear and no red flags are identified, treatment will be provided during the same visit.

What does treatment look like?

Follow-up visits are 15–20 minutes long and always one-on-one with the doctor. Our goal is to provide efficient, hands-on care tailored to your needs, helping you recover faster with fewer visits.

Do you take insurance?

Mitten Health & Performance is primarily a cash-based clinic focused on providing high-quality, individualized care without the restrictions of insurance-based models.

At this time, we do not directly bill insurance, but many patients choose to use HSA or FSA funds for treatment. We’re also happy to guide you through your options if you’re looking to submit claims for potential reimbursement through your provider.

We are currently evaluating participation with certain insurance plans. If anything changes, we will update this page and notify patients directly.

Why aren’t you in-network with insurance providers?

Most insurance plans only reimburse for basic chiropractic adjustments and do not cover the range of services we provide—which are essential for effective, long-lasting results.

Operating outside of insurance allows us to:

• Spend more time with each patient

• Provide comprehensive care

• Avoid limitations that restrict quality treatment

What if I don’t have insurance? Is out-of-network care more expensive?

Not necessarily. In fact, it’s often more affordable and more effective—especially if you have a high deductible.

At Mitten Health & Performance, pricing is simple and transparent:

• New Patient Visit (Adults): $100

• New Patient Visit (High School Students & Under): $50

• Follow-Up Visit (Adults): $40

• Follow-Up Visit (High School Students & Under): $20

• New Patient Visit (Veterans & Active Duty Military): $80

• Follow-Up Visit (Veterans & Active Duty Military): $30

We’re proud to support those who have served. To receive the Veteran & Military Rate, please bring one of the following:

• Military ID

• VA Health Card

• DD214 (or a photo)

• Any official proof of service

Many in-network providers charge $110–$130 for new patients and $50–$70 for follow-ups until you meet your deductible. With us, you’ll often spend less while receiving more personalized, one-on-one care that leads to faster results and fewer total visits.

What about Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy is offered as a standalone service or as part of your overall care plan.

• Initial Shockwave Visit: $60
  This includes a focused evaluation of the specific issue you’re seeking treatment for (such as heel pain or tendinopathy), education about the therapy, and your first treatment session.

• Follow-up Sessions: $40 each

• Package of 5 Sessions: $180 (Save $20 when purchased as a package)

As an established chiropractic patient at Mitten Health & Performance, your first shockwave therapy session and initial shockwave exam are both complimentary! Since you’ve already received a full chiropractic evaluation, there’s no need for another in-depth exam. Instead, we’ll do a quick reassessment of the area being treated before starting your therapy. After your first session, you’ll only pay for:

• Shockwave Session: $40

• Shockwave Package of 5: $180 (Save $20 when purchased as a package)
